Dimitris Koukos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1948. From the 1969 to the 1974 he studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts with their teachers Nikos Nikolaou and Yannis Moralis. From the 1972 to 1974 he studied decoration and set design at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Vassilis Vassiliadis. Three years at the Ecole des Beaux Art in Paris (1975-1978), with Gustave Singier as teacher . He had his first solo exhibition in 1977.

His works can be found in private collections in the USA, France, Italy, England, the National Gallery of Athens, the Rhodes Gallery, the Vorres Museum, the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education of Cyprus and the National Bank of Cyprus.
