Kornilios Papadimosthenis was born in Athens in 1950. He studied architecture in Florence, mosaic in Ravenna (1972-1982 ), and free studies in mosaic and hagiography in Athens. He initially gave a series of mosaics, in which, drawing patterns and themes from ancient Greek art and imitating the aesthetics of fragments of archaeological finds, he reached remarkable decorative results. In the late 80’s he switched to easel painting with a playful and surreal mood. Without losing its decorative style, it created complex compositions with intense color scales and groundbreaking typological combinations. Later he turned to the landscape, giving views of imaginary cities, with a source of naivety but also a more cerebral use of the lessons of naive painting.
