He was born on May 31, 1940 in Ermoupolis, Cyclades where he lived until 1957. Then he moved to Athens where he studied painting, scenography and costume design at the Doxiadis School. It was under the supervision of artists such as Giannis Tsarouchis, Spyros Vassileiou, Thanasis Apartis and others. Initially he worked as a set designer in various theatrical scenes in Athens. In 1971, on the occasion of painting a portrait of the Queen of Iran Farah Pahlavi, he traveled to the Asian country. He settled there and lived until 1978. He inaugurated his exhibition activity in 1963 and since then he has presented various of his works in group and solo exhibitions inside and outside Greece.

During the first stages of his artistic career, Makroulakis dealt with landscape painting. More specifically with the realistic depiction of the Greek landscape. He later turned to still life and interior painting while introducing elements of the Persian art school, obviously influenced by his long stay in Tehran.
  • Screen printing is the exact reproduction of limited copies of an original work.
  • For reproduction, a silk grid is used stretched on a crate, hence the term Silkscreen, and as many crates as the colors of the work are used.
  • The papers used for reproduction are cotton handmade 280-300gr type Fabriano.
  • After the reproduction, the crates are destroyed by the painter to ensure the collectibility of the work.
  • The Silkscreens are signed and numbered in pencil by the painter (numbering on the left and signature on the right) and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
