Kopsidis was born in the Castle of Lemnosup on November 5, 1929. He was the son of Athanasios Kopsidis and Despina Prodromidou. His father, Athanasios Kopsidis, came from Eastern Thrace and before 1922 his family was engaged in shipping. His mother, Despina Prodromidou, came from Inzesou, a village that belonged to the metropolis of Caesarea in Cappadocia. After the exchange of populations, they settled in the Castle of Lemnos, where Despina married Athanasios Kopsidis. In 1929 they acquired Rallis, who spent his childhood in Lemnos. In 1945, the Kopsidis family settled in Alexandroupolis. There he met his wife Maria, with whom he had a daughter, the painter Sofia Kopsidi.

He studied at the Pedagogical Academy of Alexandroupolis (1948-49) and from 1949 and for four years he studied at ASKT in the laboratory of Andreas Georgiadis. However, he dropped out of school during his last year of study. From 1953 to 1959 he apprenticed with Fotis Kontoglou and collaborated with him in church illustration. His apprenticeship with these two artists, in combination with his experiences from Lemnos, shape his artistic personality. In his work he combines the experiences from the folk, post-Byzantine tradition and his studies close to the craftsmen of the painter. In addition to painting, he engaged in engraving, book illustration, writing, essay writing and hagiography.
He organized solo exhibitions in many Greek cities and abroad. In 1989 the National Gallery honored him with a large retrospective exhibition of works in Athens and Alexandroupolis. The Municipality of Patras also honored him with a retrospective exhibition in 1994. His hagiographies adorn various churches in Greece, but also abroad.
Engravings by Ralli Kopsidis adorn dozens of books. He is also the same novelist. He published the magazine “Kanistro” from 1972 to 1974 and has written and illustrated many books.
  • Screen printing is the exact reproduction of limited copies of an original work.
  • For reproduction, a silk grid is used stretched on a crate, hence the term Silkscreen, and as many crates as the colors of the work are used.
  • The papers used for reproduction are cotton handmade 280-300gr type Fabriano.
  • After the reproduction, the crates are destroyed by the painter to ensure the collectibility of the work.
  • The Silkscreens are signed and numbered in pencil by the painter (numbering on the left and signature on the right) and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
