Maria Filopoulou was born in 1964 in Athens. He studied painting at the école Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Leonardo Cremonini during the period 1984-8. He did postgraduate studies at the same school, with a scholarship from the French government, during the period 1988-9 (lithograph with teacher Abraham Hadad).

Her works can be found in the National Gallery of Athens, the Hellenic Parliament, the Bank of Greece, the collection of the Goulandris Museum, the Frisiras Museum, the Kouvoutsakis Gallery, the Feliu Collection, the Antonis & Azias Hatziioannou Collection and other collections and museums in Greece and abroad.

He has had 20 solo exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, New York, Paris, Istanbul, retrospective exhibition 1989-2009 in Ermoupolia, Cyclades Gallery in Syros in 2009, and has participated in many group exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, New York, Paris, Istanbul, Berlin, Rome, Venice, Melbourne, Miami, Beijing etc.

• Screen printing is the exact reproduction of limited copies of an original work.
• For reproduction, a silk grid is used stretched on a crate, hence the term Silkscreen, and as many crates as the colors of the work are used.
• The papers used for reproduction are cotton handmade 280-300gr type Fabriano.
• After the reproduction, the crates are destroyed by the painter to ensure the collectibility of the work.
• The Silkscreens are signed and numbered in pencil by the painter (numbering on the left and signature on the right) and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
