Thanasis Leontaridis

Thanasis Leontaridis was born in Athens in 1947. In 1971 he was accepted and enrolled at the Athens School of Fine Arts, but soon gave up as he found it of no use. Since then, he keeps trying to find someone who can be his teacher, without success.

He has invented many useless and some useful inventions.

He paints in his own personal style that he calls Virtual Volumism, It is a kind of painting where the painting does not play the role of a “window” hanging on the wall, but rather a geometrically shaped volume, often formed by many stretches of canvas, connected in both mechanical and painterly ways. Sometimes this volume may contain an opening through which we can see another painted subject.
