George Iliopoulos
George Iliopoulos was born in Athens in 1947. At the age of 17 he entered Panos Sarafianos’ workshop, where he acquired his first knowledge of drawing and colour. He continues his studies at the Vakalo School with Panagiotis Tetsis (painting), Eleni Vakalo (art history) and George Vakalo (stage design).
In his works, he seeks the atmospheric rendering of outdoor space, adopting an impressionistic style. Its thematic sections represent archaeological sites, views of neoclassical houses of Athens and barred doors.
