Artist’s CV

Christodoulos Gkaltemis was born in 1953 in Kostaniani, Ioannina. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, initially with teacher Nikos Nikolaou and later at the engraving workshop of Konstantinos Grammatopoulos with a scholarship from the Giannis Kefallinos Foundation. He also attended the tutorial “Artistic Typography – Art of the book” with teacher Yiannis Papadakis and theoretically close, mainly, to Pantelis Prevelakis and Marina Lambrakis-Plakas. He graduated with the “Artistic Works Award”.

Immediately after the end of his studies, he delved into the art of lithography in well-known Athenian workshops and was granted a three-year internal state scholarship for postgraduate studies. He is an associate professor of engraving at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina. He is equally involved in painting and engraving.

In 2008, the Academy of Athens awarded him the prize of the class of letters and fine arts for the entirety of his visual creation.

His works can be found in the Educational Foundation of the National Bank, the Labor Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Vorre Museum, the Evangelos Averof Gallery in Metsovo, the Town Hall of Ioannina, the Engraving Gallery founded by Kostas Malamos in Zitsa, Ioannina. Also at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki and King George Athens hotels. Also in banks, public organizations and in many private collections in Greece, Cyprus, USA, Canada, England, Belgium, France, Germany.

He took part in many group exhibitions and has held 18 individual exhibitions. In 2017, the Municipality of Ioannina honorably organized an individual exhibition in the continental capital as part of the city’s liberation celebrations, with themes exclusively from Epirus.
