Artist’s CV

Alexis Veroukas (1968) is a Greek painter.

He was born in Athens and attended the Ceruleum graphic arts workshop in Lausanne in 1985 and then History of Art at the “Institut d’Art et Archéologie”, Sorbonne, Paris IV (1986-1988).

He studied painting at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts (ENSBA) 1988-1993 in Paris with professor Leonardo Cremonini and lithography with professor Abraham Haddad.

In Cremonini’s workshop he met with Giorgos Rorris, Maria Filopoulou, Stefanos Daskalakis, Irini Iliopoulou, Eduardo Sakayan and Anna Maria Tsakali.

In 1994 he held his first solo exhibition in Paris, at the Galerie Flak, with some of his early works, model studies and compositions with industrial spaces.

He presents his first solo exhibition in Greece at the Athens Art Gallery (1997) entitled “The Journey” with works from panoramic views of European megacities (Athens, London, Paris, etc.).

His next works on the theme of ancient theaters will be presented in the exhibition entitled “Colour and Tiers” (2001) at the Voukariani Gallery in Tzia.

Then his quests become more internal and he uses the human form in his work. He will show this section of works entitled “Vincti Sumus” (2011) at the Hellenic Cultural Foundation in Berlin.

In 2012, his retrospective exhibition was held at the Cyclades Gallery (Ermoupoli, Syros).

He also illustrated and edited books. In 1985 he was awarded the First Prize for the poster of the Year of Music in Strasbourg and in 2004 at the Exposition PIAC he won the Prize of the National Council of Monaco.

His works are in the National Gallery, the B & E Goulandris Foundation, the Frysira Museum, the Antonis and Azias Hatziioannou Collection, the Thanasis Michaelidis Collection, as well as in other private collections in Greece and abroad.
