Artist’s CV

Thanasis Tsitsikas was born in Athens in 1960. From a very early age he dabbled with crayons, paints, brushes, and with anything that could “smudge” a piece of paper, leaving on it the traces of an idea, an impression, a dream. His main teacher was Antonis Apergis, who introduced him to the secrets of painting and methodized his perception of the world of color and composition. He continued his studies in visual arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts from which he graduated with honors. He was taught painting by Kessanlis and lithography by Exarchopoulos. In 1993 he finished the illustration workshop at Saint Martins of London taught by Sue Clark. Outside of painting and while in London, he worked at Stardust Cartoon Animation Studio – his fiery mixed media, in a legible, artful, clear, narrative way, that makes each page, an autonomous visual work. Today he continues to work at the Animation Studio “Time Lapse Pictures” of Panagiotis Rappa in Athens. He has taken part in many productions, among which, “The little mouse who wanted to touch a little star”, and “A tree once”, ERT productions, scripts by E. Trivizas. He works for the publications “Ankyra”, “Kastanioti”, “Kedro”, “Kastor”, “Pataki”, “Psychogio”, “Libani”, “Empiria Edotiki”. There is a tribute to his work in the magazine “routes” issue 81 – Spring 2006 – “Psyhogios” publications.
