Artist’s CV
Aristidis Patsoglou was born in 1941 in Lesvos. In 1952 he settled with his family in Athens. After high school he attends Byzantine painting and icon conservation courses. In the years 1962-1965 he attended private drawing and painting lessons with Panos Sarafianos and sculpture with Thanasis Aparti. From 1965 to 1969, with a State Scholarship, he studied sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts in the workshop of Yiannis Pappas. In 1969 he settled in Paris where he continued his research.
He continues his studies at the School of Fine Arts in Paris (Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts) with professors of sculpture Cesar, Collamarini and engraving Lagrange. Between the years 1974-1979 he studied Fine Arts and Art Sciences at the University of Paris VIII.
From 1980 to 1983 he attended the philosopher Muller’s courses, analyzed the philosophy of the image and studied audio-visual technique at the cinema department of the University of Paris VIII.
In the period 1981-1986 he founded the group LOGOS, founding law 1901, from 50 international artists. Within 6 years he organizes 30 exhibitions in France and abroad and numerous meetings of artists and amateurs with the aim of exchanging ideas.
In 1984, Bernard Bioulac, President of the General Council of the Dordogne Department, organized a retrospective of Aristides Patsoglou in the grounds of the Puyguilhem Tower. The Municipality of Perigueux buys a monumental sculpture “La Famille” and places it in front of the Prefecture Palace. In 1989 he makes a fresh one for the Municipality of Saint-Leu La Foret, for the 200 years of the French Revolution. In 1991 he creates the trophies of the 1st Green Festival in Meaux, France: “When cinema defends nature”.
He has held more than 70 individual exhibitions in various cities in Greece and Cyprus, as well as in France, Belgium, Switzerland, England, Germany, Sweden.
Other works of his are also in the Museum of Modern Art, Center Pompidou, Paris, the Municipality of Cahors in France, the Rural Credit Bank of Mans in Normandy, the Museum of Modern Art in Quebec, Canada, the Museum of Athens, the Municipality of Perigueux in France, in the Netherlands Museum, the Dordogne Tourist Office, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tunisia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France, in a public collection in the Soviet Union, the Town Hall of Enghien Les Bains, the Albert Cohen Library in Saint-Leu, the Agricultural Bank Faithful to Tours, Gare de l’Est Paris, National Bank of Greece, Patras Town Hall, Telloglio Foundation of Thessaloniki, Delphi Town Hall and European Cultural Center, Ermoupoli Syros Town Hall, He has held numerous solo exhibitions and has been distinguished with many awards, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. He lives and works in Athens.
