Artist’s CV

Michalis Makroulakis was born in Ermoupoli, Syros. In 1957 he settled in Athens, where he studied (1958-1964) at A.T.I. scenography and costume design with teachers Spyros Vassiliou, Tassos, Kostas Plakotaris, Antonis Polykandriotis and others, painting with Yiannis Tsarouchis and drawing with Thanasis Aparti. From 1963 to 1966 he worked as a scenographer in Athenian theaters. In 1971 he settled in Tehran, where he remained until 1978. He presented his first solo exhibition in Athens in 1969. A series of solo exhibitions followed, as well as his participation in group exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad. His work belongs to the area of ​​extreme realism. He lives and works in Athens.
