Artist’s CV
Michalis Madenis was born in Komotini in 1960. He studied at the Athens Academy of Fine Arts (1985-1990), securing a scholarship for each year of study from the Greek State Fund. His teacher in the first year was Triantafyllos Patraskidis and then Panagiotis Tetsis, from whose workshop he graduated with honors. He continued his postgraduate studies at the Free Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague (De Vrije Akademie voor Beeldende Kunste). In the first year he studied with a Royal Scholarship of the Dutch Government, with teacher Bob Bonis, where he excelled, while in the next two years with a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y). He worked in the educational program of the National Gallery (2006-2017), as head of the children’s workshop. His works are in the National Gallery, Hellenic Parliament, Bank of Greece, Vorres Museum, Frissiras Museum, Historical Archive-Museum of Hydra, Municipal Gallery of Alexandroupolis, Konstantinos Karamanlis Foundation as well as in public and private collections in Greece and abroad. From 1990 to the present, he has participated in many group and solo exhibitions.
