George Lazogas
He was born in Larissa in 1945. He studied Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1963-1970), but eventually devoted himself to painting. In 1970 he was awarded a prize in the Young Painters’ Competition of the Goethe Institute of Thessaloniki and in 1972 he won first prize in the Young Painters’ Competition of the Hellenic American Union. In 1976 he left on a scholarship from the French state to study painting in Paris. There he met Alexandros Iolas and became familiar with contemporary artistic trends. He taught at the Department of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1982-1999) and in 2008 he was elected professor at the Athens School of Architecture, where he taught until 2012. In 2008 he created a permanent art installation for the “Eleonas” station of the Athens Metro. His works belong to many important public and private collections in Greece and abroad. He died in Athens in 2022.
