Artist’s CV

Takis Katsoulidis was born in Messina. From 1952-1958 he studied printmaking at the Athens School of Fine Arts, under the teacher Yiannis Kefallinos. In 1962-1966 he continued his studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris with a scholarship from the IKY. with professors M. Cami and E. Clairin. At the same time he specialized in book art at the Estienne School. From 1971-1976 he was director of the A.T.O. Decorative School. (Doxiadis). In 1978 he was elected a professor at the School of Graphic Arts of the TEI of Athens. He designed Cypriot and Greek stamps. He was the artistic advisor of Aspiotis-ELKA in 1986-1988.
In the framework of the TEI research programs, he designed two new Greek alphabets for phototypesetting (AGFA) “Apollonia” and “Katsoulides”. Then until today he has designed a total of ten Greek alphabets.
He has presented 25 individual exhibitions of painting and engraving in Greece and abroad. He participated in many Biennales and International exhibitions.
His works are in Athens in the National Gallery, the Vorre Museum, the Gennadio Library. In Thessaloniki at the Foundation Museum of the National Bank. In the Rhodes Art Gallery. In the Pieridis Art Gallery. At the N. Grigorakis Engraving Museum. In Paris in the National Library (Cabinet des Estampes) and in many private collections in Europe and the United States.
Recently established by the Municipality of Messina “Taki Katsoulidis Engraving Museum” with 200 engravings and 20 paintings, which the artist gave to the Municipality.
