Artist’s CV

Alexandra Isakidi was born in Germany in 1973. In 1992, she was admitted to the Athens School of Fine Arts, while in the same year she also ranked first in the entrance examinations for the School of Fine Arts of Thessaloniki. She studied at the First Painting Studio under the renowned painter Dimitris Mytaras from 1992 to 1998. During her second and third years, she was awarded honorary scholarships for academic excellence, and she graduated with distinction. At the same time, she attended printmaking courses for three years at the First Printmaking Studio under Ioannis Papadakis. In 1997, she received a commendation from the Ioannis Spyropoulos Foundation.
For four years, she taught painting at the “Apopsi” Center for Letters and Arts alongside the distinguished painter Giorgos Rorris. She has presented her work in six solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She has also illustrated children’s books and music catalogues. Her works are included in important public and private collections. She lives and works in Athens.
Through her paintings, Alexandra Isakidi creates her own unique Neverland—a realm of fairy-tale landscapes, dreamlike scenery, and extraordinary creatures that emerge across her canvases to compose a deeply personal utopian world.
Her works can best be described as allegorical, filled with symbolism that transports viewers back to childhood, where fears, memories, and dreams reside. It is a place to which each of us returns in search of comfort, self-discovery, and emotional balance. More than a journey into Neverland, the images she creates invite us to travel into the depths of our own souls, to reconnect with the child within and reconcile it with our adult selves.
The exhibition’s curator, Iris Kritikou, writes about the exhibition:
“Neverland, the celebrated literary creation of J. M. Barrie first published in 1911, is a fictional island—a distant place suspended in the realm of imagination, inhabited by Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, the Lost Boys, and countless other mythical and imaginary beings, many of whom resemble ordinary people. Since the most famous inhabitant of Neverland refuses to grow up, the term has become a metaphor for eternal childhood, innocence, the longing for immortality, and the desire to escape.
With exceptional draftsmanship, luminous dreamlike color, and complete narrative freedom, Alexandra Isakidi assembles and presents her own exquisite Neverland, inviting us to enter its enchanting world.
Drawing upon diverse natural and constructed elements and placing them in a compelling dialogue with girlish figures, oversized plants, mountains, lakes, and galloping horses that seem to emerge from an unknown cinematic universe, she constructs a personal geographical atlas while exploring unseen psychological landscapes without boundaries or fixed coordinates. Working confidently on a monumental scale and masterfully composing these secret gardens of the imagination, Alexandra Isakidi creates captivating hybrid worlds where archetypal images become a means of penetrating beyond an invisible curtain. Behind it, shimmering and timeless, oscillating between narrative utopia and autobiographical fragments from the artist’s childhood and life experience, her own Neverland patiently awaits.”
